Mission Statement:

I have been using utilizing and researching Auditory and Visual Stimulation (AVS) as a non-drug symptom intervention along with multi-modal interventions in children and adults diagnosed with learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), PTSD, anxiety, depression, and a number of neurological disorders for over 20 years.
I am dedicated to continually explore the use of AVS as a physical phenomenon that normalizes brainwave activity and increase neuronal activation resulting in dendritic growth. Some of my findings have resulted in the decreased severity in compromised cognitive abilities and executive functioning, such as short-term memory, sequencing, information processing, and focus and attending.
I believe that AVS can increase the potential for individuals to obtain higher levels of education and academic successes, as well as aid in reducing the risk of behavioral and psychological issues which can accompany some of these diagnoses. Such interventions can enhance social and academic successes, which will result in higher levels of self-esteem and self-concept and positively impact the quality of relationships with others.
With further studies in the use of such simple technology, we will all gain new non-drug approaches to interventions that result in increased awareness, as well as academic, social, and personal successes and the expansion of the overall quality of life.

Dr. Olmstead's extensive research utilizing AVS for ADHD and Learning Disabilities has been a springboard for larger studies and has advanced the use of AVS technology with clinical applications. Dr. Olmstead is certified in the application of electroencephalogram (EEG) biofeedback, and since 1989 she has researched, developed, and published a number of specific intervention protocols in the application of auditory and visual stimulation and brainwave entrainment. Dr. Olmstead has written software for many Light/Sound devices and trains licensed therapists in the clinical application of this technology.

Dr. Olmstead is a pioneer in the research and application of auditory and visual stimulation (AVS) systems (commonly known as “Mind Machines”). Her ground-breaking work in this field is widely published and considered among the most important works detailing the beneficial effects of Mind Machines on children and adults.

The 14 proprietary programs designed by Dr. Olmstead for the Synaptic Stimulus Trainer (SST) device are well researched, and provide significant benefits for a wide variety of disorders.

Dr. Olmstead conducted clinical studies utilizing Light/Sound devices manufactured by Photosonix for over 20 years.

She also has written a variety of sound only therapeutic software for other Light/Sound manufacturers, and is currently designing music software with Adam Hewett of Transparent Corp.
